First Village Schoolhouse, Bessett Home and Post Office - 1340 Village Road
This house was the site of the first village schoolhouse from 1903 to 1920. The lands behind the schoolhouse were then owned by village founder Damase Robert. The schoolhouse was converted into a house in 1920 and for many years that followed it would be known as the home of Béatrice and Francis Bessette and their eleven children. In 1966, Béatrice took over the village post office from Marguerite Degagné and operated it from her home until 1978. Then the post office was relocated across the road to the home of Simone and Bernard Bessette at 1351 Village Road.
